The Goal of this chart is to create a curriculum of instruction for each age level in the program. As an athlete matriculates through the program he or she should be meeting the goals listed below. The rubric for the evaluation is as follows.
New-a skill that was introduced at the beginning of the season and taught repetively throughout the year.
Developing- A skill that was introduced last season and is reinforced and developed through various drills in practice. At this stage the athlete should begin to use the skill in game situations.
Proficient-A skill that the athlete is comfortable using in games but may not produce successful results consistently.
Advanced- The athlete is confident in the skill and impliments it in games with success. The focus shifts from repetition to refinement of the skilland learning the finer points of the game.
Each player will be at diffrent levels during the season. The goal should be that every player reaches the baseline by the end of the season. For all the skills listed the key to sucess is to learn the proper technique the first time and then practice repetitvely in drills and game situations.
