Beverly Youth Lacrosse Code of Conduct
The BYL Code of Conduct is strict and serious in our sport. All people associated with the game are always expected to act with sportsmanship, dignity and respect for others. This includes coaches, parents, players and referees.
Poor sportsmanship includes:
1·Arguing with coaches, officials, teammates, opponents or spectators
2·Using threatening or profane language
3·Baiting or taunting coaches, officials, teammates, opponents or spectators
5·Uncontrolled behavior in the bench area
Poor sportsmanship will carry, at a minimum, the following consequences:
First Offense Verbal warning
Second Offense Dismissal from the game
Third Offense Dismissal from the next game
Fourth Offense Dismissal from the team
We, parent(s) and player, have discussed the LeagueAthletics.com Code of Conduct and agree to abide by it. We understand that there is no refund or recourse for dismissal from our program as a consequence of breaking this Code of Conduct.
Practices, Games and Attendance:
Lacrosse is first and foremost a team sport. Practice with the team members on offense, defense and transitions is paramount. If a player does not know where to be on the field he will put the team out of rhythm.
A team with dedicated players that attend practice and work on their skills on their own will almost always beat a team that has great athletes who do not practice together or work on their skills.
Practices will be between 1-2 hours 2-3 days per week. Being on time for practice and regular attendance is expected and chronic tardiness or absences may result in the player losing playing time in the game.
Please have your player at the practice, dressed and ready to play at the start time. Any absence must be reported via email to the coach. Excusable absences include school events, family events/emergencies, religious services, sickness, end of year winter sports games and they must be approved by the coach.
Other in-season sports practices and games may not be considered excusable. That is to be determined by the head coach. Missing games and practices on a regular basis seriously inhibit the team and it is unfair to the other players and coaches. Please try to attend as often as possible.
Honoring the game of lacrosse is very important to me. This is an ancient and sacred game and positive and respectful attitudes by both parents and players are required and will be rewarded. All parents and players are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful manner at all times. Parents and players must always show respect to coaches, teammates, officials and the opposing team. Trash talk, horseplay and disruptive behavior will not be tolerated and can result in a suspension or dismissal from the program with no refund of fees.
Every player must wear all protective gear to all practices and games. This includes shoulder/chest pads, elbow pads, gloves, helmet, and stick with a proper pocket (no tennis racquets please)
Also, mouth guards and athletic cups are required to be worn and used at all times. If your player does not have these he will have to sit out. Buy an extra mouth guard and keep it safe for when your child loses one this year.
Note: Any player looking to play up a level for the full season must put this request in writing to the President of Beverly Youth Lacrosse and the request will be voted on by the board members. Players are encouraged to play with their appropriate age groups. They may be called up on a week by week basis with the request and approval of the head coaches for the requesting and current team.
Note: Spring indoor practices will begin at the Topsfield Fairground Barn in mid-March. Players are expected to attend these practices.
Note: Players are also expected to attend all practices and games during the spring season. Participation in another spring sport in not always considered excusable and it is at the coach’s discretion if this will affect playtime.
Note: Violations of the league, program and/or team rules may lead to the player being suspended or removed from the program. No refund will be given if this occurs.
