What can your son do now to prepare for the season?
Get out on the wall for 20-30 minutes several days a week. 
Run through a quick wall ball routine. 
5 minutes right
5 minutes left
5 minutes pass right/catch left
5 minutes pass left.catch right 
5 minutes quick stick right 
5 minutes quick stick left

This will make a world of difference in your game. Make sure when you play wall ball, you are aiming at a spot on the wall every-time and trying to hit that spot, not just throwing it anywhere at the wall.
